Tough Couple of Days

Drew has been so accident prone lately. I am not sure why, but if there is something to run into, trip over, or catch himself on, he does. Without fail. His poor body is covered in so many bruises and scrapes. Here are just a couple.

While trying to run outside to play in the backyard his face caught the corner of one of our kitchen chairs. How in the world he did it is beyond me. He got a nice little scratch that turned into an awesome shiner!

So this one was Drew trying to re-enact American Ninja Warrior when the stool he was standing on tipped over and he caught the wood leg on his way down. I was in my room and didn't see the accident, but I heard him screaming. When I came out he told me his back was bleeding. I pulled up his shirt and it was skinned up pretty good, but no blood. I told him that and a few minutes later he said that he was "losing all his blood out his back." He was pretty sore for a few days, but did he learn a lesson? Nope. He is still determined to play out ANW.

Kindergarten Graduation!

Drew has graduated from Kindergarten!
This year has gone by so fast. It seems like it was just a couple of months ago that he started school! He has grown up so much and he is a smart little cookie! (Sometimes a little too smart for his own good!)

He was so excited to see some familiar faces among the masses of people!

This face is priceless!
Grandma and Grandpa Hixson were able to make it to the graduation and Drew had no idea! There was kind of a quiet minute and Grandpa Hixson stood up and waved at Drew. Drew got so excited and yelled, "Grandpa!!" and started waving back! He got lots of laughs from crowd and it just totally made his day to see that he had special guest there!!

Drew and his teacher Mrs. Tammy Dey.
This year Drew earned the 50 in a minute award!
They had to write 50 letters or 50 numbers in a minute! (I can't remember which one!)
Not everyone achieved it and it was a big accomplishment for him!!

Back in the classroom with his diploma and medal!

Drew & Mrs. Tammy Dey.
She has been an awesome teacher for Drew. She has had so much patience with him and has really helped him adjust to the school routine! He really loved being in her class!

We were so glad they could make it to the graduation, especially since Vaughn had to work and so Drew had more support than just me!

Last Day of Pre-school

Yesterday was Mason's last day of school! He has done so well and grown so much! I'm not sure where my little boy has gone, but this kid is all grown up! He amazes me every day with the things that he says and does!

He did not want me to take a picture of him.
Where does he find these faces?!

These two are like two peas in a pod. They both think they have to do some sort of a pose for pictures and they are constantly dancing around! I've never really thought that they looked a like, until I saw this picture. Now I totally see it!

Sweet Mrs. Jessica Burk.
She is truly amazing with these kids and they learn so much from her! She is an angel for putting up with them!!

I can't believe that Mason has finished his first year. He is excited to be going to school in the fall and I've signed him up for two different classes, but I don't think he even has the slightest idea what he is in for!! He says he is excited, but we'll see how he feels in the fall!!

Time for T-ball!

After doing Sam's presents we headed over to the rec center for Drew's t-ball game. This is his second year playing and he likes it. He wishes he could do coach pitch, but is happy to just be playing something! This was their 2nd game and the team did so much better!

Drew is taking everything so much more seriously this year!

Sam loves posing! She also loves making new friends. She is not shy. At all. She ran over to the other teams dugout and sat right down with them. Once they got up to go play the outfield, she picked up all the Cheetos that they left behind.

She is a nut and a half!

Vaughn is coaching Drew's team again this year. This year they are the Cubs. Vaughn is taking this very seriously and puts the kids through some really good drills during the practices.

This was the best picture I could get of Drew, because the coach kept stepping in front of my pictures! I'll have to have a word with him! ;)

Sam's Actual Birthday!

The boys were so excited this year to help wrap presents and decorate for Sam's birthday! I don't know why it gets harder and harder to get things done, but I finally put up the decorations about an hour before dinner! And I didn't wrap her presents until 5 minutes before she opened them! Oh well. I'll be better next year!

She was so excited for her toys!

Especially these shoes!
As soon as she saw them, she sat down on the floor and took off her shoes that she was wearing, so she could wear her new pretty princess ones!

She thinks this is the best way to wear the crown!
I can finally say that she has some honest to goodness girl toys now!
Poor girl has been so deprived and has had to play mostly with cars, trucks and army men!!

Happy Birthday, Sammy!!!

Today is Sammy's 2nd birthday! Grandma Linkenhoker came up last weekend to help us celebrate, so that is when we celebrated and had her party.

Saturday, we were invited over to my Aunt Ilene's and Uncle Robert's, so we just took the cake and ice cream over to their house. My kids just adore Aunt Ilene and Uncle Robert!!

Sam and her cake

Daddy lighting the candles

The most unlevel, lopsided cake ever.
Oh well.

Such a girl!
Loving the attention of having everyone focus on her while singing happy birthday to her!

Trying to blow out the candles! Mason and Daddy had to help her!

Finally got them!

We had such a great night and a HUGE thank you to my Aunt Ilene for letting us bring the cake along with us!

Summer Time

My kids are SO ready for it to be summer! They are little water bugs. Today the weather was so hot, so we went outside to play in the sprinklers. They were out there so much longer than I thought they would be. I thought maybe 15-30 minutes, but we were out there for almost an hour and a half!

Drew was so great with Sam. He showed her the ropes and made sure she had a fun time as well!

Later, I drug out our old pool that has been sitting for a few years and blew it up and cleaned it out. The bottom part had a hole in it, so when Vaughn got home I made him patch it up! The kids were in 7th heaven!!

I can't believe how grown up they all look sitting together!

Look at him Go!!!!

After planting the garden we moved to the front yard to pull some weeds. The next thing I know I see Mason whizzing by on Drew's bike! He has never attempted to ride this big of a bike before and did it almost perfectly without training wheels! He still needs help just getting onto the bike (he has such short legs) and when he needs to stop he just falls down. We're working on the landing part!

On one of the landings when he fell, he jumped up, threw his arms in the air and yelled, "SOFT LANDING!!!"

Productive Day

After putting all the tent and camping stuff away, Vaughn got busy getting our garden ready to plant. The boys were eager to help and they were a big help this year! I have so many big canning plans for this fall, and I just hope that I will have the energy to do it all with a new baby and all!

I just love this girl.

Such boys!
They love playing in the dirt! They could do it all day, every day if they could!!

Father & Sons - The Make-up

We were out of town when our ward held their annual Father & Sons campout, so the boys camped out in our backyard the following week-end! The boys were so excited when Vaughn came home from work and started putting up the tent! They were even more excited when Vaughn told them that we would be roasting hot dogs for dinner and S'mores for dessert!

Vaughn is such a good daddy! His boys absolutely love and adore him!!

Although, we weren't supposed to be there, Sam and I roasted hot dogs with the boys.

My cute Hixson boys!
It was the perfect night for a camp out!

Vaughn helping Sam warm up her hands!

After dinner, I took Sam to bed and enjoyed a night to myself! It was awesome! The boys went out to the tent and watched movies on the iPad. (I know that isn't really camping, right?!) I'm not sure how late they stayed up that night, but they all slept late into the morning. When they came in they had breakfast of waffles waiting for them!
