Camp Out at Grandma Great's

Late Thursday night Vaughn and I decided to go camping at my Grandma Bingham's house Friday night. We were planning on driving down anyway for the Bingham Family Reunion, but we weren't too excited about making a six hour round trip in one day, so we decided we'd go on Friday.

When I was younger the reunions were always held at my grandparents house and I remember the backyard being set up with tent after tent. We would stay up late into the night playing games like no bears are out tonight, hide 'n seek, or my absolute favorite was flashlight tag. There are 49 grandkids on  my Bingham side and so there was always someone to play with and something going on.

Since we decided to go the night before I told Vaughn that I wanted to take our camping stuff and let our kids experience just a little bit of my childhood memories. Even if we there weren't going to be tons of cousin, as least they would be excited about camping. Vaughn has been so awesome this summer with going  along with my crazy ideas!

So Friday was a busy day trying to get ready and get out the door. We didn't get out as soon as we were hoping, but it worked out perfectly, since all three kids fell asleep as soon as we hit the freeway and slept for half of the trip. Ahhh, the silence was much needed!!!

I think they knew they would need their energy!

Sam loved being able to run pretty much free. My grandma lives on a farm, so we just had to make sure she stayed on the grass, but when there are acres of it, it becomes less stressful!

We planned a wienie roast for dinner and the boys loved sitting around the fire.
They were so happy to see Weston...in Weston!

Playing on the adult sized swing set. All the grandkids love it!

I can't remember what her melt down was about, but it didn't last for long and made all the adults chuckle! She definitely thinks that she deserves everything her way!!

When we arrived, Weston was out running in the sprinklers.
It didn't take long before my kids joined in!

Jeff (my cousin), Grandma Bingham, Drew and my mom...oh and Vaughn over by his lonesome!

My uncle's Rhino. My mom gave all the kids rides and they, obviously, loved it.
Sam just sat there holding on and enjoyed the ride!

As we were roasting hot dogs the boys and my cousin, Jeff found a frog! Unfortunately, the frog wasn't very smart and to get away from the boys, jumped into the fire. A few minutes later they found this baby frog. Little did we know that the boys would spend most of the night frog hunting! They were everywhere!! We told them that if the frog peed on them, they would get warts!! It was hilarious to see them freak out every time they got peed on!! (Did it stop them from catching and keeping the frog? No, of course not. What are a few warts to a bunch of little boys?!!)

Soon the boys found this steep hill. It has been where the grass has been dumped for years and years and it was a perfect little slide for them! They had a BLAST on it!

It didn't take long to get under all the dead grass and into the dirt!
Of course, it just made it more fun!

I have always loved the scenery at my grandma's. It is so peaceful. It is so quiet, except for the cows moo'ing in the background. I always wish I could stop time, if even for a few minutes, while I am here.

Cleaning the boys off!! They were FILTHY!!!

Drew and Weston found yet another frog!

We traded my mom, Sam for Weston, and set up our camp. We let the boys eat treats and watch a movie on the iPad before bed. After about a half hour they were all tired, so we turned off the movie. They were all snoring within minutes!!!
