Soccer & Baseball

This is what our life has become!

Mason has LOVED playing soccer. Every day he asks if he has a game that evening. Every day I tell him no. He runs around chasing that ball with the biggest smile on his face! He is such a happy, go lucky kid!

Baseball has been a whole new world to us. Drew is no longer playing on the rec teams and what that means is that we no longer have our evenings free! If Drew doesn't have a game one night then he has practice. So between soccer & baseball, Vaughn and I both have Mutual, I am watching a friends two kids full time, Drew has scouts and Vaughn is two extremely difficult classes this term. It is shaping up to be a stressful spring! But we will keep plugging along and taking everything one day at a time! We do look forward to the game nights when we can go and pretend like we don't have other things we should be doing!!

This little girl just entertains herself while we are at the baseball field. I am glad there are other kids for her and Mason to play with. If I had to entertain them or worry about them then it would be a very long night for me!!

This kid loves the baseball field.

Spring Break

This year, the three younger kids and I went to Salt Lake.

These two had the best time ever staying up late with Aunt Connie, watching movies and playing until late hours in the night! Most nights they wore Connie out and she finally had to tell them to go to sleep!

This kid had to stay home with his dad because of baseball practices.
He was left home alone in the mornings and then went to work with Vaughn after lunch. In the morning he was left with specific chores that he had to do before he could do fun stuff. He really proved that he does know how to be independent and obedient!

So one of the things he was asked to do was take some AR reading tests. He didn't know he could do them on the iPad, so he called me on FaceTime and asked if I would help him. I pulled the quiz up on my computer and then turned the camera on it so he could see the questions. He read the questions and then told me which answer to select. He honestly is a smarty pants. The picture above is him while he is taking the quiz and this picture is of his 100%! After he took this test, he figured out how to pull it up on the iPad.

These two do not usually snuggle so closely! They were sleeping on an air mattress and it must have had a slow leak in it! When I went to go turn out the lights they were smushed together in the middle! It was so cute, but didn't look all the comfortable!

While we were there we met up with my friend, Amy and her daughter. The weather was so perfect and the kids all had fun playing together. We did have plans to meet up with some other friends, but Taysom and Sammie had runny noses and the start of a cough, so we are going to have to reschedule with them. :(

We had fun meeting my mom for her lunches.

We also were able to be there for her birthday!!

Right before we were going to do the cake and ice cream there was a knock on the door and it was my childhood best friend, Nichole! I was so surprised to see her! She had been at Hunter High School for a meeting and wanted to drive by her old house. When she drove past my moms she saw my car and stopped by to say hi! She came in and had cake and ice cream with us and then Connie painted her little girls finger nails! It was so good to see her and her kids. It had been a long time since I last saw her...I think I was pregnant with Taysom the last time.

Sammie loved hanging out with Connie. She was always calling out for Connie to come sit by her or to read to her. I love that they are building their own little friendship!!

Since Tays had just gotten sick when we got there, he did not sleep well the whole time we were there. Finally, the last night there he slept so good!

We went home on Thursday and then an unexpected trip to Utah came up on Friday, so Vaughn, Drew, Mason and I headed to Utah. Malita was nice enough to stay with Sammie and Taysom so they didn't have to endure yet another long trip!

On our way home from Utah we took a detour to visit my Grandma Bingham in Preston. It has been a few months since we have seen her and I was anxious to get over there.

The last time I saw my grandma, she always remembered who I was. This time I don't think she did. She thought my sister was my cousin and kept telling my mom to go make something for supper, so her guests wouldn't go hungry. So like my grandma to worry about her company. It was sad to see how much she has deteriorated in the last few months. She also kept telling us that we should go sit on the patio where the kids could play in the backyard and that she had beds for all of us to stay. It has been so hard to see her slowly get worse over the last few years.

Mason & Drew with my sweet grandma.

Her stash of candy was taken out and passed around and then as soon as it got back to her, she told us to pass it around again. I think it probably went around five or six times before we stopped giving it back to her!

She is an amazing lady and such a great example to me. I hope that we can make it back down there to visit her again. It will be so sad when she does leave this life, but she has lived an amazing life here and has left a strong legacy to her children and grandchildren.

(These are out of order, but oh well!)
When we went back with Vaughn we stayed in Bountiful with his parents. Mason made a "project" for Grandma & Grandpa Hixson and they loved it!!

They even put it above their front door!

Doesn't she just look like the happiest princess of all time?! ;)

All Tays needs to be happy is a pen, pencil or a "BALL"!

Oh and animal crackers don't hurt either!
